People of the Bible

Adam and Eve walked and talked with God, but sin cost them it all.

Ruth is known as the true friend. Ruth saw spark of hope in Naomi. Ruth followed her; Naomi’s home became Ruth’s home. Naomi’s God became Ruth’s God. Because Ruth chose to stay with Naomi and be her friend, Ruth was in the lineage of Jesus.

Amnon listened to his friend Jonadab more than God or godly counsel. You see Amnon had a friend who name was Jonadab and Jonadab was a very subtle man. Amnon may have had friend, but that friend ended up costing Amnon his life.

Noah had confidence in God even though he had never seen rain, never even seen a flood. Noah still had hope that everything was going to be alright. God was going to protect him and keep him safe from all harm. Noah trusted God with his future and believed that everything was going to be alright.

Abraham was promised by God that he would be the father of many nations. Even though he did not yet have a son. Even though all looked impossible he held on to hope. Mordecia believed that Esther had a purpose in life; Esther had a reason for being alive at the time she was alive. Mordecia had faith that God was going to deliver His children. He had confidence that even if Esther did not go before the King. God would bring another way of escape for His people.

Job was afraid and the thing that he was most afraid of came upon him. The VERY thing that he was afraid happened in his life. God was faithful to turn it around. God blessed Job above and beyond what he had before.

King David even though he messed up and sinned. Even though David was not perfect and even though he didn’t always do the right thing. David was still a man after God’s own heart. He was a man after God’s own heart because he was a man that was quick to forgive and he was quick to repent.

Jonah rebelled against God. He let his hatred for people come before his love for God. He ran from God. Eventually Jonah did go and tell the people to repent. He was obedient to go and tell the people the message from God. Jonah was not willing to do all that God had called him to do. He was eventually obedient but he was not willingly. He did not have a willingly heart.

The Widow in 2 Kings that feed the prophet Esha during the famine. That widow held to what little hope she had. In 2 Kings she says that was out picking up sticks. She was picking up sticks to make a fire, cook her last cake and die. She was out picking up sticks. She could have just made the cake and died. Yet she went out and picked up sticks, it was the little bit of hope had. It was all the hope she had so picked up sticks.

He confidently trusted God as he thrown in the Lion’s Den. He had faith in God that he would walk out again. He had confidence that God could close the Lion’s Mouths and keep him safe.

King Darius stayed up all night worrying about Daniel. He worried that Daniel would be destroyed. He did not have confidence that God could keep Daniel safe. He did not have any hope in God and therefore he worried that Daniel would die at the hand of the Lions.

They 12 disciples saw hope in Jesus. They didn’t know, all they knew is that they we’re following Jesus. For the sake of the call they went.
